PANCHKULA: Earth hour was observed by many families on Saturday from 8.30pm to 9.30pm, at a time when the whole world went dark. There were families who specially planned outings and candle light dinners to do their bit to save electricity during the earth hour.
For Sanjay Thareja and his wife Dr Rajni Thareja, conservation of energy is the need of the hour.
Everyone should do his bit for such a noble cause. If everyone starts saving energy like this, we would make a better world, said Thareja, who preferred to have a candle light dinner.
He added, A candle light dinner means a nice evening and a hearty dinner with the family and you also feel that you are doing something for the world, said Thareja, a resident of sector-2, Panchkula.
Harsimran Kaur, a resident of Sector 20, Panchkula, has planned a meet with the nature along with her husband Rajguru Singh and son Hargun.
Everyone did their bit for earth hour. We decided to have a walk as when you are at home, you feel the need to switch on the lights. So we went out to ensure that all lights are off, said Kaur. She further added, It was a three in- one, as we burnt calories, spent quality time with our family and were part of this fabulous campaign. We went out in evening, did some shopping and ensured that we stepped into our home only at 9.30pm.
Once you switch off your lights, particularly in this celebrated hour, it feels as if you are participating and have joined hands with every Indian home. First, we preferred to have a walk and then went out for some refreshments to have fun. I think this offer to participate in the earth hour should be made quite often as other people will also feel to do their bit, said Reena Kumar, a resident of sector-15, Panchkula.
